Eldred C. Puse

April 15, 1938 — July 29, 2015

Eldred C. “Al” Puse, age 77, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Wednesday July 29, 2015. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 15, 1938 to Clyde and Beulah (Winegardner) Puse and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1956. Al worked as a service technician for NCR for over 20 years traveling throughout Northwest Ohio and making many friends along the way. He was a long-time member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg. Al was active in youth activities, coaching youth summer baseball in Perrysburg. He was also active in Boy Scouts serving as Scout Master of Troup 102 at Zoar for several years. In 1992, he joined the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and found his true passion, a combination of motor sports and farming. NWOTPA quickly became his second family and the pride he felt for that organization was second only to the pride he had for his family. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the NWOTPA in 1997 and he honorably served in that capacity until 2014. He received the prestigious NWOTPA President’s Award in 2006. As one of the organizations biggest promoters, he was instrumental in the growth and recognition of the National Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green, OH which is the largest outdoor truck and tractor pull in the world. Al was a kindhearted and patient man with an immeasurable amount of pride and love for his family, God, and tractor pulling. He was easily able to carry on a meaningful conversation about anything to those close to him and those he just met. Because of his love and intense pride for his children and grandchildren, he rarely missed an activity, sporting event or celebration. Al is survived by his children Rick A. Puse, Lynne M. Omey, and Jennifer S. (Brett) Rothfuss, and son-in-law Wilbur W.H. Pyn III; Grandchildren Westley Puse, Keagan (Mackinzie) Puse, Alyssa (Doug) Szczepanski, Wilbur Pyn IV, Andria Pyn, Jacob Tennison, Lyndsay Tennison, Kelsi Rothfuss, and Kendra Rothfuss; Great-grandchildren Branson and Bryn Puse, Elijah and Micah Szczepanski, and Raelynn and Milani Tennison. He is also survived by his sister Anna May (Ralph) Peterson, sisters-in-law Karen Puse and Myrna Puse, nieces and nephews Lisa Davis, Curt Michael, Troy Puse, Jodi (Jacob) Bowman, Polly Peterson, and Adam (Jay) Peterson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Pyn, brothers Owen and Neal, and nephew Brian Puse. Friends and family will be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary St. Perrysburg on Thursday, August 6th from 2pm-8pm and on Friday August 7th from 4pm-8pm. Funeral services will be Saturday August 8th at 11am at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave Perrysburg, with Pastor Timothy P. Philabaum officiating.
