Eldon G. Butch Kimmet, 74, of Toledo, passed away early Saturday morning, December 7, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Eldon was born June 22, 1939 in Fostoria to the late Jerome L. and Dolores Nye Kimmet. A sister, Betty Ann Kimmet, also preceded him in death. Eldon was raised on a farm, went through 8 grades in a one-room schoolhouse at St. Andrews in Liberty Township and attended Fostoria St. Wendelin and Tiffin Calvert HS. He was a 4-year veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis, attaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He worked as an electrical control engineer at EPCO, NATCO, HPM and ITL, retiring in 2004. He was always involved with his Catholic parish having served as a council president, lector and usher. Eldon was currently an active member of Little Flower Catholic Parish in Toledo, including as a bingo runner and collection counter. In his free time, he enjoyed carpentry, model trains and home remodeling projects. Eldon married Marjorie J. Houck on June 6, 1964 in Tiffin and she lovingly survives. Also surviving are his children, Kelly J. Kimmet-Larsen, Jerome M. Cecily, Robert E. and William G. Kimmet; grandchildren, Rachel Kimmet, Julia Larsen, William and Michael Kimmet; sisters, Patricia Paul Kollner and Norma Kimmet; and brother, James Kate Kimmet. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday and proceed to Little Flower Church, 5562 Dorr St., for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Committal, military rites and burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church, American Cancer Society or Masses.
