Elden E. Leow, 84, of Oak Harbor, died late Monday evening, May 9, 2011, in Elmwood Assisted Living, Fremont, Ohio. Elden was born June 30, 1926, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, to Emery C. and Myrtle M. Stewart Leow. On June 24, 1949 he married Phyllis J. Parman, who preceded him in death on January 11, 1966. On July 17, 1970 Elden remarried to Evelyn Case Miller and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2006. Elden farmed his own land his entire life and operated his fruit farm as well. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor and had attended Oak Harbor United Methodist Church. His community involvement included serving as a Salem Township Trustee and a former board member of Salem Township Union Cemetery; he was a board member and later clerk of Salem-Oak Harbor School and Mid-County EMS and was a former EMT. Elden had also been a member and organizational director of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau. He also enjoyed raising ponies and later Appaloosa horses. Elden is survived by his son, Randy Carla of Sylvania, daughters, Shirley of Philomath, OR and Paula of Fremont; grandchildren: Linda John Johannsen of Oak Harbor, Lori Leow of Toledo, Steve Leow of Chicago, IL, and Jennifer Stein of Breckenridge, CO; step grandchildren: Megan and Marissa and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving Elden are step-sons: Mike Shelly Miller of Napoleon, Todd Maryanne Miller of Maryland, Herb Lisa Miller of Fremont, and Kim of Marysville; step-daughter: Teckla Marc Meister of NC; 13 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., in Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011, in the funeral home with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Contributions in memory of Elden may be directed to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, American Cancer Society, or Mid-County EMS.
