Elda Alvarez

Elda G. Alvarez, 59, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on July 26, 1962 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Juan and Dionicia (Garza) Alvarez. Elda worked for Miller Boat Line on Catawba Island in the ticket booth, greeting ferry passengers and wishing them an enjoyable time while on Put-in-Bay. She also worked at Jolly Rogers Seafood House in Port Clinton as a cook as well as taking orders at the counter. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and an owl collector. Never having any children of her own, she absolutely loved and adored her nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were her own. She was affectionately known as Aunt Elda. Survivors include her brothers, Catarino “Cat” (Dana) Alvarez, Port Clinton, Francisco (Lori) Alvarez, Tiffin, Ohio, and Juan Jose (Chris Byrd) Alvarez, Port Clinton; brother-in-law, Tim Whitt, Port Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwardo Alvarez; and sister, Lydia Whitt. Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 9 am until Funeral Services at 10 am with Father Jonathan Wight officiating.
