She was born in Oak Harbor on May 9, 1938, the daughter of Ernest and Marie (Neuman) Bebow. She married the love of her life, Ray A. Young, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, in Oak Harbor, on July 25, 1969, and they celebrated 31 years together, until his death on January 9, 2000.
Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved and cared for her family with great passion. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends no matter what the occasion. She always looked forward to her weekly “Latte Ladies” gathering at Kozy Korners to catch up on the news of the day!
Elaine worked for the former Ayling & Reichert Company in Oak Harbor for 38 years, retiring in 2001. During her retirement years she kept busy playing euchre and pinochle with her card clubs and Uno with her grandchildren. Crafting was also a rewarding pastime, which included crocheting baby afghans and holiday decor for friends and family, needlepoint and helping make quilts for the missions, at her church, St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Her family will also remember her for being an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians!
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Gay (Jeff) Carter, Beth (Gary Malosh) Seeger, grandchildren, Carrie (Eric) Shanteau-Wolf, Angie (Bill) Webert, Jeff Seeger, Doug (Heather) Seeger, Jessica (Trevor) Evans and Crystal Carter, 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray, daughter, Gina Arndt and brothers, Robert and Larry Bebow.
