Elaine Ann Gardner, 61, of Millbury, OH, gained her angel wings on March 10, 2021 with home hospice care surrounded by her family and friends after a hard-fought battle with Stage IV metastatic melanoma. She was born October 19, 1959 in Oregon, OH. Elaine was the daughter of Darryl and Diane (Pfeiffer) Traver. She graduated from Genoa Area High School and Penta Career Center in 1977. Elaine furthered her education at Mercy College of NW Ohio and became a Registered Nurse. She finished her career in Labor and Delivery at the University of Michigan. Elaine loved being with family and friends, traveling especially to Disney, and crafting. On June 30, 1990, Elaine married William “Dale” Gardner in Honolulu, Hawaii and they shared 23 years together in marriage before his passing in 2013. Surviving are her parents, Darryl and Diane; daughter, Allison (Nick) Woods; sister, Rose (Kevin VanSickle) McKee; sister-in-law, Karen Traver; niece, Kristen (Rob) Orians; nephews, Kurt McKee, Nick & Tyler Traver; 1 great-niece; 2 great-nephews; and being a Mimi to 4 granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Gardner and brother, Bruce Traver. In accordance with Elaine’s wishes, her body will be donated to The University of Michigan to advance science. At a later date she will be cremated and be placed to rest at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii with her late husband, Dale Gardner. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 14th at St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio. Friends and Family are welcome from 3:00-5:00 PM for the celebration and a private service will start after. The private service will also be available on live stream. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Donor’s Choice.
