Eileen F. Reid

Eileen F. (Haas) Reid age 93, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on May 9, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Eileen was the 8th child out of 11 born in Perrysburg, Ohio to John V. and Helen C. (Hertzfeld) Haas.

Eileen graduated from Perrysburg High School class of 1948 where she played basketball for the school at that time women were only allowed to play half court.

Eileen was a woman of many talents. Not only did she create a home and raise four children she also went to work selling Eureka sweepers at Lion Store when the children were older.

Her third career was establishing a garage door company E. B & H Sales with a family friend Hank Kaufman. That company is still in Perrysburg operated by one of her nephews.

In her spare time, she and her sister Joanne created beautiful hand sewn quilts for family and friends. One of her quilts won first prize at the Wood County Fair.

Eileen was a lifelong parishioner of St. Rose Parish and had a deep faith in God; no matter what tragedy would come and faithfully said the rosary every day.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan (Mark) Stephens; Christine (Carl) Schultz; Daughter-in-law Debra Reid; grandchildren, Jacob (Toni) Reid; Kevin (Stephanie) Reid; Michelle Schultz; Erika (Scott) Greenberg; step grandson, Andrew (Marnie) Hartman; eight great-grandchildren and her last surviving sibling, Joanne Junkins. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents John V. and Helen Haas; sons Brandley Reid and David Reid; family friend Hank Kaufman and 9 siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the care Eileen received in the last weeks of her life.

Per Eileen’s wishes final services will be private. She will be buried at St. Rose Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg.
