In loving memory of Edwin Reed Dunn who was born 01/25/1935 in Kansas and died at Kingston of Perrysburg on 10/09/2025 surrounded by family. Ed and his family traveled the southwest working oil rigs while he was growing up.
Ed married his first wife Zola and had three children, Michael, Maureen and Brian.
Ed met and married his second wife, Doris (Markwith) Hetrick in Fremont in 1971 and with her son Mark created a combined family.
Ed was a chemical engineer by trade and worked for many chemical companies. Beginning with DOW, Crown, Polysar and retiring from Goodyear.
Ed held many patents, including one from Queen Elizabeth II! Some of his notable patents were for carpet padding and the foam used in hospital and correctional mattresses.
Ed moved the family often and traveled the world for his job! After he retired, he and Doris moved to Perrysburg to be closer to Mark’s family
During his retirement he played tennis and volunteered at the Toledo Humane Society. He enjoyed taking the grandkids to their cabin at Land between the Lakes in Indiana.
Ed was proceeded in death by his parents, one sibling and his son Brian who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Doris, son Michael (Sally), daughter Maureen Maxand and stepson Mark (Vicki). Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ed said that he wanted this epitaph on his tombstone to say "I've been Dunn all my life, now I'm finished!"
Funeral arrangements were private and were handled by Walker Witzler-Shank of Perrysburg
In lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to the Humane Society of Toledo or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Special thanks to Rachel and Janet of Hospice and all the doctors and nurses at Mercy of Perrysburg who cared for him.
