Edwin Willson Brugger passed from this life on Monday, March 3, 2014, at the age of 71. Edwin was born in Fremont, Ohio, to Walter I. and Anna Brockman Brugger on November 13, 1942. Edwin received his education from Salem-Oak Harbor High School graduating with the class of 1960. Surviving Edwin is his wife, the former Joann Burmeister, who he married on June 18, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway, Ohio. Edwin was the wonderful father of Sharon Scott Ellmaker of Fairport, NY, Philip Marcia Brugger of Elmore, OH, and Eric Rebecca Brugger of Toledo, OH. Edwin and Joann have five grandchildren, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Cassandra, and Zachary Brugger and Marina Ellmaker. Surviving Edwin are siblings Caroline Harder of Gibsonburg, OH, and a brother, Walter I., Jr. Glynda of Brandon, FL. Edwin was very close to his in-laws, Larry Kathi Burmeister Gibsonburg, Lamar Sue Burmeister of TN, Betty Charlie Gonya, Dave Sandy Burmeister, John Nancy Burmeister, and Sarah Jim Auen all of Fremont and Kathleen of Bradner, OH. Edwin had many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents, stillborn sister, Phyllis, brothers, Stanley and Stephen, brother-in-law, David Harder, and nephews, Paul Harder and Marc Brugger. Edwin farmed for Mike DeMars before working for ten years with McCullough Construction of Port Clinton. In 1972 he started the Ed Brugger Construction Company. Edwin was a member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee for over thirty years. Most recently he was an usher and a member of the Foundation Committee of the church. He will be sorely missed by many. The family would like to thank Pastor Rob Rakay and the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church for their prayers and support. A special thanks to our extended families and friends for their support and the prayers of so many people. We appreciate the great care Edwin received from many in the medical profession. Words cannot express our utmost gratitude for the care received from the staff of Stein Hospice and Joanns sister, Kathleen Burmeister. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, 360 E. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery. Memorials for Edwin may be directed to the church or Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
