On December 21, 2021, Edward (Richard) Willet, age 91, of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital. Richard was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 1, 1930, to the late Edward and Josephine (Kratz) Willet. After more than 40 years of dedicated service, Richard retired from CSX Transportation. Following his retirement, Richard and his late wife, Wilma, split time between their house in Maumee and their condo in Deerfield Beach, FL, where they enjoyed the Florida sunshine while playing lots of tennis and socializing with friends. In his day, Richard was an avid skier and traveled to some of the most renowned ski resorts in North America and Europe. He spent many years as a member of the Toledo Ski Club. In addition, Richard was a Mason with the Masonic Lodge of Toledo and a member of the Maumee Elks. Richard had a passion for learning history and, in his spare time, could often be found watching the History Channel. Richard is survived by his children, Gary (Janie) Farthing, Shelly (Gary) Kessler and Jamie (Debi) Willet; stepchildren, Vicki (Rich) Bringman and Dan (Jean) Harrington; daughter-in-law, Sandy Farthing; and 11 grandchildren, along with 4 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Willet; son, Rick Farthing; and brothers, Frances and Clarence Willet. A private burial will be held by the family at Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
