Edward Jack Riebe

Riebe Edward Jack Edward Jack Riebe, 81, of Sylvania, OH, departed this life on what would have been the 79th birthday of his wife, Lucile, on May 30th, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo surrounded by his family and friends. Ed was a 1944 graduate of Libbey High School. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Mansfield from 1944-1946 earning a Bronze Star in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was employed by Allied Chemical/Plaskon for 42 years, from where he retired in 1990. Ed loved playing golf, and had two holes-in-one: one on the 7th hole at Ottawa Park in 1977, and one on the 9th hole at Chippewa in 1994. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, building model planes, camping, fishing, traveling, bowling, and woodworking. He was very devoted to his family. Left to cherish his memory are children, Theresa Robert Russell of Round Lake, NY; Cecilia Ric Secor of Bend, OR; Mary of Boston, MA; Ann, Edward, Jane Rodgers Ric Kuhl, James Maryann Riebe, Douglas Lisa of Otis, OR; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Richman. He is also survived by his sister, Leona Vallade; 23 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Betty Schmidt, Andy and Leitha Sekela, and Bob and Betty Cousino. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Amy Hilkens; son, John; parents, John and Minnie Smith; brothers, Robert and Melvin Bill sisters, Katherine Mardelle Finch and Betty Stevens. Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Sunday, June 1st from 5-9:00pm and Monday, 2-9:00pm. Graveside services will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Eds name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the charity of the donors choice.
