Edward A. Pizaña, age 23, passed away October 11, 2023 in Winterhaven, California. He was born on March 1, 2000 in Van Nuys, California to Maria Josefina Pizaña and Alfonso Medina. Edward was raised in Toledo, Ohio where he attended Waite High School and was involved in show choir, TOP, and razas unidas. In 2020, Edward enlisted in the US Marine Corps and completed basic training in Pensacola, Florida. For the past two years he was stationed in Yuma, Arizona working as an air traffic controller where he made many friends.


Edward was a creative individual who had a passion for drawing, painting, photography, dancing and music. As a gifted musician he loved playing the piano and guitar and recently began writing musical compositions. He was blessed with a beautiful voice and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church choir. Edward loved to use his artistic abilities to entertain family and friends. He would do anything to make his loved ones smile and was very positive, energetic, and funny. Edward had a very adventurous nature and always welcomed new experiences. An avid traveler, his favorite destinations included Paris, Spain, Mexico, California, Chicago, and Arizona. His love for travel inspired him to attend pilot school. Edward was family oriented and enjoyed visiting family and friends every opportunity he had. He genuinely appreciated those around him and made it a point to make everyone feel valued and loved.


Edward touched the lives of many. He truly was incredibly caring, talented, funny, generous and kind. His wonderful memory will live on through his countless family and friends. Edward had a beautiful soul that will be impossible to forget.


Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Alfonso Medina and Maria Josefina Pizaña; siblings, Enrique, Alfonso, and Bernice; nephew, Luis; grandparents, Eglantina Robles, Rito Pizaña, and Reynaldo Medina; godparents/uncle and aunt; Fernando and Maria Parga; cousins, Nayeli, Anay, Pablo, Liliana, Vanessa, Adrian, and Cristian; uncle and aunt, Hector and Susi Sanchez; cousins, Stephany, Sofia, Hector and Susana; aunt, Norma Ramirez; cousins, Dezerie, Dulce, Ahlyssa, and Daniel; uncle and aunt, Ignacio and Claudia Chavez; cousins, Suhey, Ignacio, and Iris; uncle, Alfredo Parga; cousins, Izabel, Sofia, and Alejandro; uncle, Francisco Ramirez; cousin, Isabella; aunt, Elizabeth Pizaña; cousins, Mairany and Melany; uncle, Luis Manuel Pizaña; uncle, Jaime Alvarez; cousins, Leslie and Jaime Jr; uncle, Carlos Alvarez; cousins, Daisy and Reyna; uncle, Ricardo Pizaña; uncle and aunt, Enrique and Erika Medina; cousins, Michelle, Brian, and Enrique Jr; godsons, Luis Garcia and Rodrigo Padilla Jr; and numerous friends and extended family. He was preceded in his death by his brother, Luis Palacios and grandma, Sarita Medina.


The visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home- Sylvania, 5155 W Sylvania Ave, Toledo OH 43623. Mass will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St, Toledo, OH 43604. There will be a church visitation prior to the mass from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Following mass the burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park 6382 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH 43560.
