Edward W. Lachmiller, 90, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek in Holland. A native and life-long resident of Toledo, he was born May 22, 1921 to the late Emory and Josephine Spenner Lachmiller. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Service Battalion, serving during World War II. An independent man with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, he owned and operated Lachmiller Electric Motor Service Co. in Toledo for 47 years, retiring in 1992. A member of First Alliance Church and its church orchestra, Ed was a founding member and board member of Toledo Youth for Christ. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and RV-ing with his family. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Windisch Lachmiller; son, Robert Lachmiller Connie; daughter, Barbara Bozeman James; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, William; sister, Janet Klinck; and brother, Roger. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
