Edward Casper Karamol, Sr.

Edward Casper Karamol, Sr., 85, of Monclova, passed away on July 19, 2024, at Otterbein of Monclova. He was born May 12, 1939, in Toledo to the late Casper and Edith (Hall) Karamol and graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1957. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Toledo. Ed was set up on a blind date by a friend with his future wife, Sandy Kuresz. They married in February of 1962 and spent over 57 wonderful years together. Edward and Sandy lived on Rega Drive in Toledo where Edward Karamol Jr. was born on April 20, 1964. and their second son, John Karamol was born on January 5, 1968.

Ed was an engineer with Kern-Liebers in Holland for many years, retiring in 2000. He spent the years after retirement doing what he loved most, traveling the U.S. in his camper with Sandy; cousin, Jim Stover; and their loving companions, Buddy and Max. He also loved fishing, attending his Naval reunions and working on cars, a skill passed down to his children and grandchildren. Ed was veteran of the United States Navy, serving active duty from 1957-60 and in the reserves for 2 more years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee and the American Legion Post in Grand Rapids. Ed was also proud of his Polish Heritage and enjoyed Polish food.

Ed is survived by loving son, Edward (Natalie) Jr.; grandchildren, Devin Karamol, Kylee Karamol, Brianna Karamol, Jacob Karamol, and Taylor Neeley; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Llewelyn, Raelyn, Jaxon, Ashton, Rylan, and Sailor; brothers, Casper (Sandy), George (Charlene), Frank and Joe Karamol; and his Jack Russell, Jack. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandy, on September 23, 2019; son, John; and brothers, John and Robert.

Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, with a sharing of memories at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 108 W. Broadway St., Maumee. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee.
