Edward W. Jepson Ned, age 59, passed away Wednesday March 18, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School where he played football, tennis, and hockey. He received his Bachelor degree from Eastern Michigan and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and received his Masters degree from the University of Toledo. Ned worked for Washington Local Schools for 35 years retiring in 2007. As an educator he also coached girls tennis, track and boys hockey at Whitmer. After retirement, he worked at Olander Park, Urban Active, and continued to substitute teach. Sports were a large part of Neds life from coaching his sons in hockey and baseball to competing in many triathlons. He also enjoyed golf, hockey, and was an avid Ohio State and Red Wings fan. He was also a member of the Sylvania Moose and the VFW. The biggest part of Neds life was his family, the many sporting events, his daughters ballet, many memories they have of the trips to their cottage in Pentwater, MI, and the laughter they shared together as a family He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carol; children, Jennifer, Jonathan, and Jeffrey; sister Kay Alex Boguslawski Davidson-Bond; and nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents J. Edson, Phyllis Jepson, and step father Frank Blymyer. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 5-9PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at the funeral home with prayers at 10:30 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph Catholic Church Sylvania at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Neds family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Heath and staff at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, Dr. Ken Krupp, Dr. Robert Axonovitz, Dr. Robert DiSalle and staff of Toledo Hospital Interventional Radiology Department & Recovery Room, Toledo Hospital 7th Floor Medical Surgery Staff, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, 4100 John R Detroit, MI 48201 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
