Edward Q. Hardin, age 95, passed away Tuesday August 21, 2018 at Flower Hospital. He was born February 16, 1923 in Temperance, MI. Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Drexler, DD741 which was sunk on May 28, 1945 during WWII by two Japanese Kamikazes. 159 Men were killed. 59 wounded , 350 men were on board. Ed later served during the Korean war. After his honorable discharge, he began working for Toledo Scale as an electrician. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Alvirta, moved to North Carolina for a number of years and later moved to Arizona before settling in Westland, MI. He is a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Alvirta; and his precious dog Molly. A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements were handled through Walker Funeral Homes. Memorials may be made to Charcot-Marie- Tooth Disease.
