Edward Papa Barnes

Edward “Papa” Barnes, 82, the beloved son of Edward and Caroline (Wilkinson) Barnes, passed away peacefully at the side of his devoted wife of 62 years, Juanita, in the early hours of December 6th, 2018. A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Ed devoted his life to his family. After serving his country during the aftermath of the Korean War, he returned home to Juanita and started the family that he would work tirelessly to support by hauling freight day and night as an over the road truck driver, helping travelers arrive safely at their destination as a taxi driver, and solving the world’s problems over a cup of coffee with his friends. Never without his wallet and his IPhone, he loved the simple things in life: a good meal, a cold Coke, a drive through the countryside and visiting with his family. Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charles Barnes and Clarence and Frank Wilkinson. He is and will always be a hero’s hero to the family he left behind; his wife, Juanita, daughter, Karen (Paul) Barnes, grandson, Eddie, grand-daughters, Danielle (Lance) Scott and Amanda Solly (John) and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Austin and Camden; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Flash. An intimate Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Toledo Memorial Park where visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment of Eds ashes will follow with Military Honors by the Lambertville VFW Post 9656. A reception of family and friends will then take place at the Electrical Industry Banquet Facility at 727 Lime City Road in Rossford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edward’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
