Eduardo Fiegehen Calderon, M.D.

Eduardo Fiegehen Calderon, M.D., age 79, of Toledo, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital in Maumee surrounded by his loving family. Born May 14, 1932 in Santiago, Chile to the late Pedro Nolasco Calderon and Teresa Fiegehen. He married Yolanda Urrejola on November 27, 1957 in Santiago, Chile. Dr. Calderon graduated from the Universidad Catolica de Chile and did his neurology training at the Universidad de Chile and Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. After furthering his neurology education in the United States, Dr. Calderon returned to Chile to private practice for 2 years before accepting a position on the faculty of the Medical College of Ohio/University of Toledo Medical Center. He also founded thereafter Toledo Neurological Associates, where he worked in private practice for 30 years at St. Lukes Hospital, Mercy Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo Hospital and Parkview Hospital. After his retirement, Dr. Calderon also took the time to earn a bachelors degree in history from the University of Toledo. He traveled the world extensively with his wife, including Europe, Asia, Polynesia, and South America. While residing in Chile during the winter months, he enjoyed spending time with his extended family. Family was very important to him, and he had researched his family genealogy back to the late 1700s. His friends and family will always remember his wit and intellect. He was an avid reader and loved his coffee. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Yolanda Urrejola Calderon; beloved children, Rosa Munoz, Eduardo Tomas Yolanda Calderon, John Paul Ann Calderon, Alexandra Todd Dailey, Paulina Neal Semel and Francisco Calderon; grandchildren, Eric Dailey, Victoria Calderon, Sebastian Calderon, Nicole Dailey, Benjamin Calderon, Isabel Calderon, Carter Calderon and Connor Calderon, Eli Semel, Charlie Calderon and Ezra Semel; all of his nephews and nieces with special mention, Ernesto Sara Figueroa and their children Nicolas, Jason and Ian Figueroa. Also left behind are his brothers and sisters, Pedro, Maria Teresa, Maria Elena, Eugenia, Alicia, Isabel, Ines and Eliana Calderon. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Corpus Christi University Parish, 2955 Dorr Street. Private entombment will take place in Chile. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions in the name of Eduardo F. Calderon be made to Childrens International Fund, Doctors Without Borders or a local organization that aids the poor. Online condolences can be expressed at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
