Edsel E. Ed Swisher

Edsel Ed E. Swisher, 90, of Elmore, Ohio, formerly of West Virginia, died early in the morning on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Ed was born December 26, 1927, in Morgansville, Doddridge County, West Virginia, to Melbourn and Dessel (Davis) Swisher. On October 27, 1951, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he married Peggy J. Willis. For 45 years he was an over-the-road truck driver and retired in 1992 after 30 years with Roadway Express. He was a retired minister as well, and had been a member of Union Mission Conference in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Pine Island and the USS Bairoko. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Peggy, Ed is survived by his son, Butch (Sue) Swisher of West Union, WV, and daughter, Lisa Swisher of Elmore; four grandsons, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; his siblings, Lyndell Leeson, William Swisher and Aris Cogar. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Swisher, and siblings, Max and Phyllis. There will be no services. Cremation has been entrusted to the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
