Edna J. Rideout, 99, passed away peacefully at Genoa Retirement Center on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. She was born on June 30, 1925, to Henry A. And Minnie (Lauman) Koester in Oregon, OH. On April 24, 1945, she married Richard J. Rideout, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2011.
Mrs. Rideout was a busy farm wife, raising two children while taking an active part in St. John Lutheran Church, PTA, Garden Club, and Girl Scouts. She later began as a clerk at the Curtice Post Office, ending her career as Postmaster. Edna became the matriarch of St. John Lutheran, Williston, on September 15, 2022.
Edna and her husband loved to travel, visiting throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. Later, they spent winters in Florida.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Sharon Traver; son, Kenneth (Annamarie) Rideout; grandchildren, Jodi Traver Robinson, Jaci Traver (Kent Schneider), Spencer Schoolcraft (Taylor Cassidy) and Julia Schoolcraft (Cody Copeland); and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Floyd, Glen and Donald Koester; sisters, Florence Buddy, Ruth Zitzelberger, and Eleanor Cochenour; and son-in-law Craig Traver
Visitation for Edna will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Robinson Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W Toledo St, Williston, OH 43468 on Friday, August 16th, at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston.
