Edna M. Ray, (Edie), age 85, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born on September 9, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to Edward and Agnes (Doherty) Murphy. Edna married the love of her life, Lewis, on October 20, 1962 in Kings Park, Long Island, New York. She graduated from Kings County Medical Center in Brooklyn. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse for over 50 years working at the Toledo Hospital, Charter Hospital and for the Lily Division of Owens Illinois. Edna was a member of Saint John XXIII Catholic Church in Perrysburg, the American Nurses Association, the American Industrial Nurses Association and a member of the Toledo Ski Club, where she was downhill skiing into her 70s. Edna was also a former Girl Scout leader of Troop 440. She volunteered at the American Red Cross and St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, where she was a Eucharist Minister. Edna is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer L. (Scott) McMeans and Claudine D. (Dean) Bernardo; grandchildren, Katie McMeans, Kevin McMeans and Ryan Bernardo. She is survived by many loving family members and a wonderful circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Robert Murphy. Edna’s family would personally like to thank the staff of St. Clare Commons, especially Sister Joy Barker and Chelsea Oswald for providing her care, love, and support, over the past three years. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday December 28 at St. Clare Commons, 12469 Five Point Rd, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Visitation will be from 9-11am, followed by a Catholic Mass with burial immediately following at Fort Meigs Cemetery. Family requests visitors to wear colorful, holiday attire because Edna was always a stylish gal who would not have liked dull clothing worn at her final send off. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to Autism Society of Northwest Ohio, 6629 West Central Avenue, Suite 1, Toledo, OH 43617.
