Edna R. Jensen

Edna R. Jensen, 100, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away peacefully, Friday July 28th, 2017, at her daughter’s home. Edna was born March 30th, 1917 in New Marshfield, OH, the daughter of James Edward and Rose (Swiger) Wharton. On January 3rd, 1937 in Florida, OH she married Neils Jensen with whom she had 3 wonderful children, Alan, Dennis, & Rose Marie. She worked as a sales clerk at the Apple’s Ladies Store in Port Clinton, OH for many years, before retiring in 1982. Edna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Clinton, OH from the age of 16. She enjoyed gardening in her yard, word search puzzles, and with her husband was a modern day house flipper. She loved fixing up old houses, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Those left to cherish her memory are: daughter Rose Marie O’Connell, daughter-in-law Joyce Jensen, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Alan Jensen, and Dennis Jensen, grandsons: Chris Grieves and Derek Jensen, sisters: Marjorie Masing and Ruth Conte, and brothers: Henry Wharton, Kenneth Wharton, and James Wharton. Visitation will be 2-8pm, with family present from 2-4 & 6-8pm, Friday August 4th, 2017 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. James Lehman at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
