Edmund Robin S. Wierzba, 82, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. Edmund was born on March 2, 1926 in Port Clinton, OH to Stanley J. and Dolora Starkloff Wierzba. On November 20, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton, he married Ethel D. Wilder. Edmund retired in 1988 from New Departure-Hyatt in Sandusky, OH after 40 years. Edmund had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was part of the 71st division European Theater Operations, which was attached to the 9th Division of Pattons 3rd Army, 53rd Battalion Artillery. Edmund was part of the first unit to cross into Germany during the war. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and a member of the Harley Owners Group. He was a member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718, Port Clinton Athletic Boosters and avid new car enthusiast. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors include: Wife: Ethel Wierzba of Port Clinton, Children: Barbara Don Drusbacky of Port Clinton; Sandra Joe Prater of Kenton, OH; Philip Deborah Wierzba of Port Clinton; Kathleen Tom Bush of Spring Grove, PA; Mark Wierzba of Port Clinton; Keith Wierzba of Huron, OH. Granddaughters: Casey and Lynn Mentzer; Grandsons: Jeffrey Melissa Wierzba, Jason Heather Wierzba, Jonathan Wierzba, Joshua Wierzba, Christopher Drusbacky, Kyle Wierzba, Alexander and Eric Bush, Ian and Logan Wierzba, Great-granddaughter : Caileigh Wierzba. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, January 28, 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Missler at 10:00AM on January 29, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH, where family prayers will begin at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Edmund may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters.
