Edith M. Purney

Edith M. Purney, 89, of Green Springs, Ohio and formerly of 515 Main St. Clay Center, Ohio, died Sunday March 2, 2008 in the Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs, Ohio. Edith was born in Martin, Ohio on June 23, 1918 to Charles and Nellie Scott Cornell. She married Elden Purney in Williston, Ohio on November 21, 1936 and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1984. Edith was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo and shopping with her daughter. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Carlos Weiker of Green Springs, son James Janet Purney of Genoa, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ray, Clyde, Edward, and Lee Cornell and sister Agnes Taborn. Funeral services for Edith will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, March 6, 2008 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St. Genoa. Interment will follow in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
