Edith Louise Ebert

Edith Louise Ebert age 97 of Maumee passed away on Sunday January 29, 2012 at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. Edith was born in Toledo on November 19, 1914 to Albert and Emily Heiptman Arft. Edith earned her bachelors degree in education at The University of Toledo. Edith met her husband, Ralph while volunteering at a Summer Mission Bible school in Konnarock, VA. She started her career at Toledo Public Schools and later taught 10 years for Maumee City Schools until her retirement. After retirement, she continued volunteering with the public schools and St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee. Edith was active in the Lutheran church throughout her life. She was a member for over 40 years at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Maumee. She volunteered her time, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and represented the church at meetings. Edith was a member A.A.U.W. She was active with the Cardinals Singing Group and sang in Maumee Senior Center choir. She spent her life helping others. Edith often visited the disabled and elderly in their homes and nursing homes, touching many lives. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Carol George Saufley, Miriam Ringquist, Julie Joseph Billmaier and Alfred Jennifer Ebert; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Arft; sister in law, Helen Stahley and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; son-inlaw, Neal Ringquist; brothers, Albert and Herbert Arft; and sisters, Mary Deitemyer and Shirley Lusher. A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Pauls Lutheran Church 112 E. Wayne St. Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Lutheran World Hunger Appeal. Arrangements by Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee.
