Edgar J. Smawley

Edgar J. Ed Smawley age 78, of Toledo passed away on Wednesday September 2, 2009 in Heatherdowns Rehabilitation Center. Ed was born in Altoona, PA on July 1, 1930 to Gerald and Marguerite Nash Smawley. He was a trainmaster for Penn Central Railroad for 45 years retiring in 1995. Ed was a mason with the Rubicon Lodge and an avid OSU and Detroit Tigers fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Smawley; daughter, Carolyn John Fox and twin grandsons, John and Andrew Fox. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home on Friday September 4th, 2009 at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Mobile Meals of Toledo, 2200 Jefferson Ave. Toledo, OH 43624.
