Edgar L. Irick

Edgar L. Irick 85. of Port Clinton, passed away, Sunday, December 09. 2018, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. Ed was born on May 13, 1933 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Frederick and Ellen (Hendrix) Irick. On March 06, 1953, he married Bernice Swintek and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2015. Ed was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a security officer for First Energy for 10 years until his retirement in 1988. Ed had also worked as a police officer for the Port Clinton Police Dept. for 17 years, the Danbury Police Dept. for 2 years and at East Harbor State Park as a park ranger. He was past chaplain for the American Legion Post #113, past commander of the V.F.W. Homer D. Gardner Post #2480, had held office for the Moose Lodge #1810, a member of the David W. Leonard Aerie #2295 and the Korean War Association. Ed will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Children: Anthony (Connie) Irick of Syracuse, NY, Kathleen (Steve) Sloan of Sandusky, Elaine Irick of Port Clinton, Mark (Christie) Irick of Clyde, and Daniel (Cathy) Irick of Port Clinton; 14 Grandchildren, many Great-Grandchildren and Brother: Charlie T. Irick of Sandusky. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Rose-Ellen Derivan and brother, Frederick Irick. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Harry Hunt, at 11:00am, Friday, December 14, 2018, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, with military graveside services. Memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
