Earl Franklin Shull

Earl Franklin Shull, 90, passed away at his home on Monday, May 24, 2010. Earl was born on December 31, 1919 to Jennie Kreglow and Chester Shull in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from DeVillbis High School in 1938 after attending Libbey High School. On November 16, 1940, Earl married Amelia Mae Matchett Shull, who preceded him in death. Earl later joined the U. S. Army and served in the 22nd Infantry, 4th Division during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his service, Earl was co-owner of Harold & Earls Hi-Speed Gas Station on Summit Street in Point Place. He then worked for various contractors and finally retired at Shull Electric with over 30 years of service as an electrician. He recently received his 50 year pin as a member of the IBEW Local 8. Earl was on the Directors Staff of the Zenobia Shriners and was a past member of the Whiteford Valley Country Club where he participated in the Thursday night golf league with the Dirty Dozen. He was a frequent patron of Eddie Lees and Jim Shulls Rib Cage. Earl led a very active life helping his family and friends. He spent many hours in his wood working shop he set up in his basement. Over the years he constructed doll houses and toy boxes for his great-grandchildren, music boxes, a kitchen shelf and a kitchen island for his family. Earl is survived by a son, James Earl Kathy Shull of Toledo and a sister, Lee Reiger of Temperance, Michigan. Survivors also include grandsons, Matthew Vicky Shull of New Albany, Mark Chris Shull of Buckhead, Georgia, and Michael Cheri Shull of Toledo, and a step-grandson Dalton Koester of Toledo, and great grandchildren, Jessica, Garrett, Olivia Shull of New Albany, Reagan, Reese, and Corinne Shull of Toledo, and Jackson and Cooper Shull of Buckhead, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his brother Robert Shull, sisters Betty Harold Clark, Lois Fred Smith, and daughter-in-law, Judith Shull. Family and friend are asked to meet inside the main entrance of Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at 10:45am on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. The procession will leave the main entrance at 11:00am and proceed to the Chapel where services will be held. The family request that donations be made in Earls name to Honor Flight, Attn: Diane Gresse, 300 E. Auburn Ave. Springfield, OH 45505.
