Dudley Keenan Skeels

Dudley Kennan Skeels Jr. was born in Toledo, Ohio, on January 12, 1935. He passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 91, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Dudley graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1953. He held several jobs throughout his career, from Head of Produce at A&P Grocery to selling insurance for Metropolitan Life, before finding his calling in sales with the former Nabisco brands. He retired in 1995 as the top sales representative in Northwest Ohio. Oreos were always a staple in his home, and Keebler was considered a dirty word.
An avid Ohio State Buckeyes football fan, Dudley shared his love of the game with his son-in-law and grandson, who continue the tradition by meeting up to attend games across the country.
Dudley volunteered for 18 years at the Medical College of Ohio, first as a patient representative and later in pastoral care.
At the age of 50, Dudley accepted Christ as his Savior and became a devoted member of Hope Baptist Church. He faithfully served as a trustee, treasurer, and usher.
Dudley was preceded in death by his father, Dudley Kennan Skeels Sr.; his mother, Eva May Slee Skeels; his sisters, Dorothy (John) Sutkus and Ruth (Robert) Hess; and his brother, Burton (Linda) Skeels.
Dudley married the love of his life, Leona Marie Herebic, and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this August. They met on a double date with friends and ended up leaving together after Dudley stole a kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel-a story they loved to share throughout their lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Leona "Lee" Skeels, of nearly 65 years; his two daughters, Susan (Tim) Sams and Deborah (Dave) Westmeyer Jr.; five grandchildren, David (Erin) Westmeyer III, Darian (Drew) Brown, Drew Westmeyer, Madeline Westmeyer, and Atticus Westmeyer; and three great-grandchildren, Marshall, Calvin, and Berkley Brown.
Visitation will be held at Maison Dardenne Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, Ohio, on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Dudley will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park during a private family service.
