Douglas Eugene Patrick

Douglas "Doug" "Dougie" Patrick, 64, of Clyde, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. He was born on November 4, 1961, in Port Clinton, Ohio to Ernest and Rhodena (Wright) Patrick.

Doug was born with spina bifida, but it never stopped him from living life on his own terms or pursuing the things that brought him joy. He graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1981 and went on to create a life filled with adventure, music, family, and countless interests that made him uniquely Doug.

Doug loved the outdoors, especially hiking and camping. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and took particular pleasure in visiting all of the Great Lakes. He loved the beauty of nature and especially looked forward to autumn, when the leaves changed into brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. He also enjoyed planting flowers and trees in his garden and taking pride in watching them grow.

Music was another great passion of Doug's. He was a remarkably talented drummer and loved to play. His taste in music ran toward the real rock and roll he loved, with artists such as Ozzy Osbourne and Led Zeppelin among his favorites.

Doug had a curious mind and a love for the unusual. He enjoyed watching Finding Bigfoot and other documentaries exploring the unexplained. He was also a devoted fan of horror, supernatural, and science-fiction movies. Whether he was watching a favorite film, listening to music, tending his garden, or enjoying the outdoors, Doug embraced the things that interested him with genuine enthusiasm.

He also loved going out to eat and trying good food, although those who knew him well knew that he was an exceptional cook himself.

Doug will be deeply missed by his sisters, Terri Patrick and Diane Schultz; nieces, Megan (Doug) Wahlers and Allison (Jamie) King; nephew, Lee Schultz; great-nieces and great-nephews, Caleb, Braxton, Brently, Levi, Landon, Carmen, Charlotte, Carissa, and Rose; and many beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Berger.

Services will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa County Humane Society in Doug's memory.
