Douglas R. Munson

Douglas R. Munson age 67 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Doug was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Matthew B. and Ruth (Looft) Munson. He was employed as a physical therapist at Progressive Therapy Alternatives. Doug did his undergrad work at St. Olaf College (Um Yah Yah!) in Northfield, MN and completed his physical therapy training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, music, Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, attending Cubs games with his brother, Sid, University of Michigan Football and the word of the day. Doug was a kind and compassionate person who loved his family and friends and always put others before himself. He loved conversation and was curious to learn about anyone who crossed his path. He is survived by his wife, Gail C. Munson; children, Sara Elizabeth (Andres) Du Bouchet and Matthew Douglas (Jessica Ramirez) Munson; siblings, Phyllis (Paul) Olson, Sid Munson, Jan (Robert) Fundingsland and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his close friends, Leon Lunder, whom Doug considered his brother; and Darrell (Jenny) Alt, who was Dougs business partner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim. The family would like to thank the staff of Floor 8B at the University of Michigan hospital for the kindness and dedication they showed to Doug and his family during their time there. They would also like to thank Dr. Maha Hussain and her staff at the U of M Cancer Center. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, OH.
