Douglas A. Harder, 63, of Graytown, Ohio, died at his home on Monday, October 2, 2017. Doug was born August 20, 1954, in Oregon, Ohio, to Max J. and Dorothy H. (Thayer) Harder. He was a 1972 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor. Doug was a carpenter for all of his adult life. He was an excellent woodworker and brick layer. He enjoyed deer hunting; and many years ago he played guitar and sang with Pete and the Boys. He is survived by his daughter, Katie Mehlow; brothers, Max Tim (Pat) Harder, Ted Harder and Tom (Diane) Harder and sister, Teresa (John) Lewis; nephews, William Harder and Corey (Allison) Harder, nieces, Sara (Clint) Bourgeois, Mary Lewis, Jennifer (Kevin) Wilkins and Tiffany (Jon) Marquis; and six great nieces and nephews. Doug is also survived by his uncles, Don Thayer and Rodney Pudge (Sue) Thayer and aunt, Mary (Darrell) Floro; and his step daughters, Lisa Braun, Lori Abahazi and Leslie Knerr. His parents and step son, Danny Rife, preceded him in death. Dougs wishes were to be cremated and thrown into the field. But the familys wishes are that he will have a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, in Salem Township Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Memorials for Doug may be given to Habitat for Humanity of Ottawa County, 161 W. Water St. Suite B, Oak Harbor, OH 43449.
