Douglas Alan Guy, 64 of Swanton, passed away October 4, 2022, at Elizabeth Scott Community. He was born March 24, 1958 to Arthur and Eileen (Greenburg) Guy in Toledo. In high school, Doug was the kicker for Springfield’s football team. After graduating, he would serve his country not just once, but three times, serving Honorably in the United States Marines from 1976-1977, the Navy from 1981-1983, and the Army from 1986-1989, his favorite of which was serving aboard the USS Nimitz. Upon returning home, Doug drove a semi-truck for different companies and eventually for FedEx where at times even driving to and from California twice a week.
Doug loved reading, whether it be a western, history, war, anything. He also found enjoyment in watching the Buckeyes and the Green Bay Packers play football, or the Grit channel. Doug was also an avid traveler, taking historical trips at times with his dad across the United States and beyond. Above all else, he was an animated storyteller who was a friend to all who met him.
Doug is survived by his children Danielle (Dan) Swartz and Douglas (Abby) Segura; eight grandchildren; father Arthur “Jim” Guy; sisters Debbie (Mike) Carman and Kathy (John) Trapp; best friend and Army buddy Arnold Romero; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Eileen Guy.
Friends will be received Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 4-8 P.M. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home (501 Conant St, Maumee, OH 43537). Services will be private and contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to Providence Lutheran Church, (8131 Airport Hwy, Holland, OH 43528).
