Douglas Allen Fowler

Feb 25, 1932 — Aug 19, 2026

Douglas Fowler, 94, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was the son of John and Irene (Jornt) Fowler, born on February 25, 1932, in Fremont, Ohio. He graduated from Genoa High School, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Peiffer.

He went on to serve his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He spent his working days as a tool and die maker, enjoying a successful career with the Brush Wellman Corporation. His craftsmanship and skill extended to his hobbies; he was an accomplished woodworker and shade-tree mechanic, and could often be found in his garage workshop, listening to polka music and tinkering on a project. He and Barbara married in 1954 and shared an unforgettable 72 years together - a marriage his family came to think of as the foundation everything else was built upon. Together they raised two daughters, Denise and Danette. He was a selfless father who prioritized time with his family, above all else. He was also a man of deep faith who volunteered his time at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

Doug loved the game of golf and the friendships that came with it, but his true devotion was to his grandchildren. He was the one waiting in the pickup line after school, the one driving to practice, the one who found his spot on the sideline for every game, concert, and awards night. He never missed a chance to be there - and his grandchildren cannot remember a field, gym, or auditorium where he wasn't present. He was the engineer behind every school science project, the leader of every beach expedition, and the keeper of their secrets (which now rest with him forever - phew).

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Denise Fowler and Danette Core (Fred Kusian); his five grandchildren, Lucas (Molly) Croak, Rachelle (Adam) Peter, Meghan (Aaron) Horvath, Douglas (Jayde) Morgan, and Vince Core; and eight great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Vivienne, Olivia, Lylah, Ezra, Theodore, Levi, and Luca. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live and grow in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leroy (Peewee) Fowler.

In accordance with Doug's wishes, funeral services will remain private. Robinson Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
