Douglas Eisenbrandt

November 19, 1932 — February 19, 2026

Douglas Eisenbrandt passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Doug was one of ten children of Lester and Bertha Eisenbrandt.

Doug met the love of his life, Barbara Albrecht, while cruising around downtown Toledo. A chance encounter that sparked a beautiful partnership. After their first date at the movies, the two began a life together that would span 68 years of marriage, including 66 spent in the same cherished home. They raised three sons and built a life centered on love, loyalty, and family traditions.

Doug loved spending time with family. They would take occasional trips to a lake in Indiana and enjoy weekend trips to the drive-in theaters. He also loved watching the Point Place and Shoreland fireworks. He created memories that his children still remember and talk about to this day. In recent years, he embraced technology with enthusiasm, using FaceTime to stay connected with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, eager to hear what everyone was up to.

A gifted craftsman, Doug had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything. His curiosity and determination led him to teach himself new skills throughout his life, even as technology evolved. He spent 50 years with Ohio Specialties, where he worked as a foreman in the industrial sector. At home, his talents were everywhere, from the cars he repaired to the kitchen cabinets he built with his own hands. He was also an avid gardener who delighted in growing vegetables and experimenting with planting peach pits or other seeds just to see what might take root. Meticulous about his home and yard, Doug was still mowing the lawn and shoveling snow within the past year.

Though it was once joked that he could barely make toast when he and Barbara married, Doug grew into a passionate cook and baker. His pancakes and spaghetti became family favorites, and he loved baking bread and pies. He often turned to his computer to search for new recipes to try, always eager to learn something new.

Doug was a devoted provider and a man known for his stubborn determination. When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and advised to get his affairs in order, he refused to accept that prognosis. Instead, he continued to live fully, ultimately becoming Barbara's caregiver in recent years-a role he embraced with unwavering love.

Doug is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Jeff (Sue) and Eric (Cheryl); grandkids Ashley, Felicia, Travis, Nicole, Stephanie, and Rachel; great-grandkids Ahrianna, Lili, William, Victoria, and Elizabeth; and siblings Ann Futey and Wayne Eisenbrandt. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Bertha Eisenbrandt, siblings Betty Eisenbrandt, Bob Eisenbrandt, Donald Eisenbrandt, Norm Eisenbrandt, Yvonne (Eisenbrandt) Brown, Jean (Eisenbrandt) Sweet, and Rod Eisenbrandt, and his son Gregory.

Doug leaves behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, perseverance, and family devotion. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
