Douglas B Bortz

Douglas Bruce Bortz was born on October 26, 1943 to Cassius and Janice Bortz in Findlay, Ohio and passed away on February 6, 2021. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Born and raised in Holgate, Ohio he graduated from Holgate High School in 1962 and attended Ohio University prior to entering the Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he married Pamela Hohenberger on September 10, 1967. Shortly after his time spent in K.I. Sawyer Air Force base in Marquette, Michigan they moved to Perrysburg, Ohio to start their family. They had three children; Gregory, Aaron and Megan. Summer vacations were enjoyed in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, boating, fishing and skiing on Lake Michigamme. Doug was an avid golfer and loyal employee. He was a lifelong member at Riverby Hills Golf Club and worked for Churchill’s Supermarket’s for nearly 50 years. Doug is survived by his wife, Pamela Bortz; children, Gregory Bortz, Aaron (Liz) Bortz and Megan Bortz (Ben Kaufman); grandchildren, Allyson Hanson, Samuel, Janie and Lucy Bortz, Abigail, Sierra, Porter and Wyatt Kaufman; sister, Winifred (John) Russell of Choctaw, Oklahoma and sister-in-law, Connie (Bortz) Shambarger of Perrysburg. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Bortz. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133).
