Dorothy Wood

Dorothy Wood, age 89, of Maumee passed away on April 8, 2015 at the Elizabeth Scott Community. Dorothy was born in Holland on June 4, 1925 to Ray & Leita (Holcomb) Irwin. Her birth parents gave her to Ray and Bertie Williams for adoption. She married Roy C. Wood in Holland on August 23, 1947. Dorothy worked for the Springfield Local Schools as a bus driver for many years, retiring in 1985. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her loving daughters, Barbara (James) Dudley; Joyce (Sergio) Rizzi; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and brother, Glenn (Emily) Irwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Wood; son, David C. Wood; brothers, Melvin (Betty) Irwin; Fred (Winnie) Irwin and twin brother, Donald Williams; sisters, Mary Jane (Richard) Bethel and Lois Marie Irwin. Family will receive friends at the Living Faith United Methodist Church, 1240 Columbus Ave., Holland, Ohio on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 10 am until time of service beginning at 11 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions in Dorothy’s memory be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.
