Dorothy M. Whitzel

Dorothy M. Whitzel, age 96, of Oregon, and formerly of Walbridge, passed away on December 20, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Dorothy was born on November 15, 1921 to Franklin and Eulalia (Gibbs) Lowe in Fremont, Ohio. Dorothy was a Wrapper and Icer for Hostess cakes for over 28 years, retiring in 1975. Her favorite pastimes were taking long walks and shopping. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Robert P. Wise and Melvin L. Whitzel; parents, Franklin and Eulalia Lowe, son, Larry A. Wise; siblings, Norma Jean Scoffield, Betty Quackenbush, Kenneth E. Lowe, and Merle L. Lowe and great-grandson, Cody James Goss. Left to cherish her memory, are her son, Robert D. (Paulette) Wise, Sr.; grandchildren, Diane Schneder, Kim Mayfield-Schneider, Mark Wise, Deanna Goss, Robert Wise, Jr. and William Wise; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews, and best friends, Jeannette Curry, Carol Whitzel and Barbara Pierce. Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Township Cemetery, 3550 Walbridge Road, Millbury, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Little Sisters of the Poor Sacred Heart Home or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
