Dorothy Louise Wallace

March 21, 1923 — January 13, 2019

Dorothy Louise Wallace, 95 years wise, died peacefully at home in Temperance, Michigan on January 13th. She was born in Muncie, Indiana to William Anderson Lee and Edna Elnora Fine. After graduating from high school, she worked in the secretarial pool for Pioneer Sugar and after her marriage she continued her secretarial career with Borg Warner. She married William G. Wallace on July 22, 1944, and they were happily married for 53 years. After having children, Mom devoted herself lovingly to her family, and was also very involved in various volunteer activities. She served many years at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Toledo as the Sunday School Secretary, and also served on their Ladies Guild. She was very active in her children’s schools and enjoyed the many friends she made during this time. When her husband was transferred to the Cleveland Chevrolet plant, and they settled in Fairview Park, Ohio, she continued her service at Messiah Lutheran Church on the Altar Guild, as well as volunteering as a tutor for young children at Fairview Park Elementary School. Together with her husband, she delivered Meals on Wheels, transported patients to doctor appointments, and stocked and filled grocery needs for families in the local food distribution center. Upon moving to Temperance, Michigan she volunteered at Temperance Road Elementary in her daughter’s classroom. Mom loved to sew and made beautiful costumes for her granddaughter, Megan and daughter, Jeanne. Listening to Megan sing and watching her perform were some of her fondest activities. She had a special relationship with her son-in-law, Bill, who loved to tease her and take her for rides. She called him “Bossy Bill”. She was a big supporter of her three sons, Bill, Jim, and Rick, and took great interest in their careers and families and always enjoyed their visits. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, completing puzzles, eating ice cream, and reading. She had a keen mind and always was ready to learn new things. She left this life surrounded with great love and leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Bill (Karen Reither), Jim, Rick (Mary), daughter, Jeanne Kearney (Bill), granddaughter, Megan, brother, Roy Lee (Nancy), granddaughters, Alison Craver (Rich), Adrean Kreig (Glenn), and four great grandchildren, Hannah, Addison, Brady, and Kayden. She treasured her friendships with her oldest and “bestest” friends, Joann Gibbs and Violet Leist. To honor Mom’s wishes, services will be held for the immediate family. There will be no visitation and her interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park will also be private. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests any memorial tributes be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. We would like to thank the wonderful support she received by the entire Hospice of Northwest Ohio team, and especially the joy and love she received from her in-home Hospice nurse, Jeanine, and her aide, Anna.
