Dorothy A. Sherwin

Dorothy A. Sherwin age 91 formerly of Toledo passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Avalon of Perrysburg surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Toledo on January 24, 1920 to Albert and Agnes Tomas Nowakowski. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed baking, especially pies, reading, gardening, music, dancing and was on the bowling league for many years. Dorothy played pinochle with her siblings and in-laws at many family gatherings. Staying connected with her brothers and sisters was very important to her. She and her husband John had many good memories traveling and sightseeing together. They loved spending time at their cottages at Carpenter Lake in Reading, MI and Ball Lake in Hamilton, IN. John preceded her in death on January 10, 2003 after 59 years of marriage. Surviving are her children, John C. Sherwin, Maureen Robert Garcia, Victoria William Kreinbihl, and Mark Sherwin; brother, Thomas Nowakowski; sister, Rose Marie Robert De Arment; sister in law, Lucille Parker; grandchildren, Aaron Liz Garcia, Susan Sherwin, Nathan Garcia, Jonathon Sherwin, Elizabeth Sherwin, Daniel Colleen Sherwin and Jennifer Sherwin; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, Patrick; daughter in-law, Donna Sherwin, sister, Joan Schlautmann and brothers, John and Raymond Nowakowski. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Tuesday May 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a scripture at 7:00 pm. Prayers will begin on Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses and elder assistants at Avalon of Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care Dorothy received.
