Dorothy Louise Geiger Pencheff, 83, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2013 at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. She was born in Toledo Ohio on February 27, 1930 to Benjamin and Dorothy Koster Geiger. She grew up in her family home on Scottwood Ave. and spent summers at the family cottage on Devils Lake. She graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1947 and attended Mary Manse College. In May, 1952, she married her devoted husband, Robert Pencheff and together they raised 7 children. She was a devout Catholic who attended Christ the King Parish. Her unwavering belief in the power of prayer helped her cope with the poor health she experienced for much of her life. Anyone who met Dorothy never forgot her. She was a true survivor who endured many hardships yet never lost her ability to live life her own way and carry on with amazing strength. She was always her own person and true to herself. She loved her family, playing the piano, decorating her home, cookbooks, Notre Dame football, craft shows, and watching religious programming. She was the beloved mother of seven children, including her son William who preceded her in death and with whom she is now reunited in heaven along with her parents, Benjamin and Dorothy Geiger and her husband, Robert. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Tom Geiger Sr. Brenda; children, Patricia Pencheff, Mary Pencheff Reid Ahlbeck, James Pencheff, Thomas Pencheff Jim Uncapher, Christine Pencheff Barber Chris and Julie Pencheff. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22nd, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH west of Corey. Prayers will begin at 9:20 a.m. Friday, August 23rd, from the funeral home, followed by the funeral mass, celebrating Dorothys life, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 River Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek and Hospice of NW Ohio for their compassionate care. All her life Dorothy embraced and looked forward to the next life of peace and joy in God and in heaven. May the angels carry her home and shower her with love and kisses.
