Dorothy J. Neal, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Dorothy was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 8, 1933 to Pencho and Georgina “Bertha” Evanoff. A graduate of Waite High School. She earned a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education at the University of Toledo. She taught third and fourth grades at Frank Elementary School in Perrysburg for 30 years. She always remembered the names of her students long after they graduated. Dorothy was an avid bridge player and in earlier years enjoyed playing tennis. She enjoyed vacationing at Fort Myers Beach, Florida and at Hemlock Lake in Michigan. She travelled extensively and cruised with her husband throughout much of the world. She was married at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oregon, Ohio. Dorothy and her husband of one month short of 60 years of marriage, were college sweethearts. They met at a Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Chi Omega dance. Dorothy was a loving wife and devoted to her two children and five grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her husband, James E. Neal, Jr.; son, David E. (Rose) Neal; daughter, Lynette N. DeSantis; grandchildren, Gregory, Katelyn, Emily, Tommy and Lexi. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM in St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 871 E. Boundary Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
