Dorothy L. Mcintire

Dorothy L. McIntire, 84, formerly Dorothy L. Todak passed away at her assisted living home in Lauderhill, Fl. on July 31st. Mrs. McIntire was born on April 25, 1924 in Cambridge, Ohio to Edmund and Elma Kelley Morgan. She moved to Toledo at age 5 where she was raised by her mother and stepfather, James A. Martin. Dorothy graduated from Woodward High School in 1943. She attended the University of Toledo. She remained in Toledo until 1997. She met her late husband, Asa Mac McIntire on a blind date. They married in 1972. Mr. McIntire, an engineer at Ford Motor Company, died in 1993. Dorothys career was in banking, including 19 years with the Ohio Citizens Trust Company. She was Assistant Vice President in charge of SOS- a Personal Advisory Service. She belonged to professional organizations, including being a member and officer in Toledo Women in Industry TWIN. A former member of Epworth United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school in the 1960s. As well as being a devoted wife and loving mother, she was a humorist. Many, including close friend and sister-in-law, Millie Best, considered Dorothy to be one of Toledos premier storytellers. With suspense, drama and wit, she could perfectly speak in almost any dialect or accent. Mrs. McIntire is survived by her children, Daniel J. Desmond Catherine, Lancaster, Pa, Dennis Todak Adrianne, Pompano Beach, FL and Larry Todak Debra, Quincy, MI. and stepson, Douglas McIntire Pamela of Saline, MI. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Laura Whiteman, Amy Wegner, Anne Warden, Daniel T. Desmond, Brenda, Terry and Brensen McIntire, Brian, Alison, Holly and Joseph Todak and 5 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. on Monday, August 4th from 3 to 8 PM. Services will be Tuesday at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial tributes may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, The Shiners Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
