Dorothy Jane Mather

Dorothy Jane Mather, age 85, of Sylvania, OH, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 30, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 16, 1926 to Cecil L. and Dorothy H. Johnson. Jane graduated from Scott High School and attended the University of Toledo. She was employed by the United States Hospital Corps during WWII and later worked at the University of Toledo and The Toledo Hospital for many years. Jane and her husband, Robert Bob were married November 1, 1944 and were married almost 61 years prior to his death. Her life was devoted to her husband and family. Janes interests included golf, bowling, bridge, and shopping with her sisters. She was an active member of Heather Downs Country Club, Ladies 9-Hole League. Jane is survived by her sister, Donna J. Derbeck; sons, Robert Jr. Carol, John C.; daughters, Connie Mark Zimmerman, Susan Gary Taylor; grandchildren, Bob III, Heather, Samantha, Julie, Katie, Scott, Jayna, John Jr.; step grandchildren, Lisa, Brian, Jamie; great-grandchildren, Ricky, Dylan, Caden, Isabelle, and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sister, Doris McCray; brother, Cecil Johnson, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Pecoe-Mather. Visitation will be Monday, April 4, from 2-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. 419-841-2422. Memorial services will be private.
