Dorothy Mageski

Dorothy Louise Mageski, age 94, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, in Waterville, Ohio. Dorothy was born on December 21, 1926, in Yale, Michigan. He parents were Alvin C. and Ruby (Rose) Morgan. She married Warren Balhoff of Sandusky, Michigan on October 9, 1946. They had two sons, Donald (Sandra) Balhoff of Tyrone, Georgia and Richard (Vicki) Balhoff of Monclova, Ohio. They divorced in 1973 and Dorothy married Leonard Mageski on July 30, 1979, who preceded her in death in December 2018. Dorothy lived in Sandusky most of her life and worked for the Yale Rubber Mfg. Co. in Sandusky. She started as a payroll clerk and retired as executive secretary to the company president. After retirement Dorothy and Leonard remained in their home in Sandusky during the summer months and spent their winters at the home in Betmar Acres Senior Community in Zephyrhills, Florida. They enjoyed traveling and she was proud to say she had visited 48 states and 14 countries. Dorothy was a lifelong member of The First United Methodist Church in Sandusky. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Sow and Hoe Garden Club of Sandusky. Her other hobbies included ceramics, cross-stitch/needlepoint, bowling, and dancing. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in laws, three grandsons, Chad (Jennifer) of Waterville, OH, Brett (Mindy) of Porter, IN, and Vance (Jennifer) of Cartersville, GA.; two step grandsons, Dennis (Tonya) Price and Richard (Marisa) Price: one brother, Maynard (Carol) of Palm Coast, Florida; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one sister, Donna Fockler of Silver Lakes, California. A visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. Toledo, OH on Sunday June 13, 2021, at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. The family requests that anyone desiring to honor Dorothy’s memory make contributions to The First United Methodist Church in Sandusky, MI or the charity of your choice.
