Dorothy Kridel

Dorothy Kridel, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Dorothy was born February 20, 1932, in Toledo, to the late Frank Arthur and Lola May (Montgomery) Weigel. She was fondly called “Dottie” by her late husband Jack Kridel, who preceded her in death in January 2001.

Dorothy was dedicated to raising her young children over the years as a homemaker and worked various jobs as a school volunteer and providing nursing home assistance.

Family time and her faith were very important aspects of Dorothy’s life. Over the years she enjoyed time with her children as a Den Mother, Girl Scout Cookie Captain, and Luther League Advisor. Dorothy spent countless time with family on small summer trips, and at family get-togethers, church, Bowman Pool, and the YMCA. She also participated for multiple years in local bowling leagues. In her later years, Dorothy was an active volunteer at the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center in Toledo, where she made numerous friends.

Dorothy will be best remembered by her family and friends as being kind, loving, and selfless, a caring mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She never had a mean thing to say about anyone.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Barb Jacoby (Tom), Kathy Meyer (Robert), and Mike Kridel (Dawn); grandchildren, Jennifer Rice (Grant), Jeffrey Jacoby (Pina), Matthew Kridel, Emily Kridel, Stephen Kridel, and Marisa Meyer; and five great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by siblings, Clifford Weigel, Robert Weigel (Laverne), Virginia Michalak (Edward), Melvin Weigel (Jean) and Marie Weigel.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe Street, Toledo.

Flowers or donations in lieu of flowers to the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center in Toledo are welcome. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Kridel/Jacoby/Meyer families on the Tribute Wall of this page.
