Dorothy Kay Kretz

Dorothy “Kay” Kretz, 82, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away early Thursday morning, July 29, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 15, 1938 in Port Clinton, OH to James A. and Mabel E. (Henline) Kelly. On December 12, 1959 in Port Clinton, OH she married Charles W. "Bill" Kretz, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2017. Kay previously worked as a dental assistant for Donald Zimmerman, DDS in Oak Harbor for many years before retiring. She then enjoyed babysitting many children over the years. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, OH. Kay enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, and crafting. She made many quilts and knit hundreds of hats for the sock tree at church. Kay enjoyed Western style square dancing with her husband for many years. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports. Kay is survived by her son, Keith Kretz, daughters, Kim (Loren) Bryant and Kelly (Brian) Warnke, grandchildren, Philip (Amanda) Bryant, Erin Bryant, Rachel (Ryan) Carroll, Joshua (Fiancée Tarah Harding) Warnke, Justin Warnke, and Nathan Warnke. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Patricia (Lorensen) Kretz, and brother, Robert Kelly. Visitation for Kay will be 4-7 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Holli Burkard 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, 450 N. Rocky Ridge Rd., Rocky Ridge, OH with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Kay may be given to the Organ Fund at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge or Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH.
