Dorothy Dee Winifred Kirk was born December 17, 1923 in Ardmore, PA. Dee is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald F. Kirk, and through the union of their marriage, produced a family that includes a daughter, Donna Kansas City, MO, and sons, Dan Kennesaw, GA and Don Foster City, CA, as well as six grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by brother, Andrew and sisters, Mary and Jo of the greater Philadelphia area. Dee taught elementary school for 30 years after graduating from West Chester State Teachers College in West Chester, PA. She began teaching in Yardley, PA and spent over 20 years at Bancroft Hills. While there, she completed her Masters in Education at the University of Toledo. She retired from her teaching career at Reynolds School. She enjoyed a lifelong passion for learning that included volunteer work through teaching reading, researching any variety of topics, and vacations often included elder hostels, that combined a learning experience with a destination. Dee loved music and was an active member of Christ the King Choir and the Toledo Symphony. Entertaining, gardening, and bird watching were just some of her interests of this very full life. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. Toledo, OH, 419 841-2422 on Friday September 12, 2008 from 4-7:00p.m. A Mass in her name will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Ln, Toledo, OH, on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:00am.
