Dorothy Trace Hummel, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Elmwood Healthcare Center in Green Springs. Dorothy was born June 5, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to Leo and Carma Trace. Dorothy graduated in 1941 from DeVilbiss High School and in January 1942 married the love of her life, Richard Hummel. Dorothy and Richard were married 51 years until Richards death in 1993. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and was a homemaker noted for her cooking and sewing skills. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (William) McGuire, Brad (Mary Frances) Hummel and James (Esther) Hummel; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and five step grandchildren and their families. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Trace and Patricia (Albert) Leet, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her brother, Rahland Trace, and sister, Lois Reynders. A service for Dorothy will take place at the Chapel of Memories at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio, at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016. The family suggests that memorials for Dorothy be made to Elmwood Healthcare Center at The Springs, 401 N. Broadway St., Green Springs, OH 44836; or to a charity of the donors choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Valone and also the kind and caring staff at Elmwood for their care of Dorothy during her last years. They would also like to offer a special thank-you to Sister Sam at Elmwood for being caring and ever present.
