Dorothy A. Hoag

Dorothy A. (Rider) Hoag, 75, of Lake Orion, Michigan and formerly of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late James D. Hoag; mother of Jackie (Bruce) Pascoe, Bill Hoag and Bob Hoag; sister of Charles K. (Trudy) Rider and Jane (Jack) Robinson; grandmother of Leeya, Brett and Kip; and great-grandmother of Kaila, Andrew and Evan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle D. and Betty J. Rider; sister Margaret McDavitt; and brother Paul D. Rider. Dorothy started her teaching career at Jefferson Elementary School, Port Clinton, OH. She most recently taught 5th grade at Stadium Elementary School before retiring from the Lake Orion Schools after more than 30 years. A Gathering of family and friends to remember Dorothy, will be held, 9-10AM, Monday, May 04, 2015 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH, where prayers will be held at 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM, Monday, May 4th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Dorothy, may be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
